Maca Peruvian, in Latin Lepidium meyenii, also known as Peruvian or Brazilian ginseng, is a plant found in the highland Peruvian areas with minimal vegetation. As one of the few it survives her, the really harsh climatic conditions, and thanks to Maca, these harsh conditions also survive its users living in these areas. The unfavorable environment is likely to cause its small height – it grows to a maximum of 15 centimeters. It is decorated with tiny white flowers, but its main part is an underground root similar to beet, which serves as a miraculous food.
For over 6,000 years, Maca has been regularly consumed by local natives. It is used as a stimulant and mood stimulant, helping to survive in adverse alpine conditions. It is also known for its aphrodisiac effects, which allowed local natives to reproduce effectively despite the suboptimal environment.
There is an ancient Indian legend that Maca was sent out of heaven as a gift from the god Varakochi, who wanted to protect the indigenous tribes from certain deaths that would succumb to adverse circumstances. Hence its name Maca, which in native language means “a plant coming from the heights to encourage”.
Nowadays it is widespread all over the world and serves as a favorite superfood that harmonizes our whole organism.
Maca is an energy bomb. It contains a number of different vitamins – A, 1, B2, B6, C and E. Its other ingredients are no less healthy minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, sodium, iodine and copper. It also contains amino acids, fatty acids and high levels of antioxidants, such as sterols or saponins.
It is obvious from the list of active substances that this plant has a complex effect on our whole organism. Vitamins and minerals help to nourish individual organs, strengthen bones, limbs and tendons. If you actively do sports, they also promote muscle growth. It also acts as an effective stimulant – it helps to increase physical performance and accelerates the regeneration of the body after a demanding performance.

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE
Powder from the root
One teaspoon of the powder can be added to any food. Its pleasant, mildly sweet taste will greatly flavors smoothies, muesli, porridge, cocoa, yogurt and other desserts. The powder can also be dissolved in any liquid.
Combination with other superfoods such as Ashwagandha or Ginseng is suitable.
