Camu Camu, Latin Myrciaria dubia, is a low tree growing mainly in the rainforests of Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. Its fruit is very acidic and ranks first worldwide in vitamin C content. In this purely natural form it has unrivalled absorption compared to other chemically treated forms. Compared to citrus fruits, to which Camu Camu is often compared in this context, it also contains many times more iron, vitamin B3, B2 and phosphorus. Other minerals and trace elements include zinc, potassium, calcium, copper, magnesium, manganese and sodium. The fruit powder also contains protein, fibre and protein, phenolic substances and carotenoids, especially lutein and zeaxanthin, responsible for antioxidant effects, and the essential amino acids leucine and valine, which are important for muscle and bone growth, as well as for the nervous system and cognitive function.
Preparation and dosage of Camu Camu powder:
It can be commonly mixed in water or any liquid, used as an ingredient in smoothies, yoghurt, muesli, salad dressings, marinades or sauces, but also in baking. We recommend using 1 teaspoon of powder per 250ml of lukewarm water, stir and sip gradually throughout the day.
