Kratom, Latin Mitragyna speciosa, is a tropical tree originally from Southeast Asia. He gained popularity mainly because of his leaves - they are psychoactive. These leaves are dried and then used in a variety of forms to produce desired effects. The tradition of use in Asia dates back to far history. Kratom was a part of traditional rituals where he served as an alternative to green tea or alcohol. It was also used in classical Asian medicine for its medical properties as a remedy for colds, coughs or diarrhea. Today, this miraculous plant is becoming increasingly popular in our Western civilization.
It is possible to meet the whole range of individual varieties of Kratom. The varieties are distinguished by the coloring of the bottom of its leaves. We distinguish three main types of Kratom - White, Green, and Red. The stimulating varieties White and Green were traditionally used by Thai peasants and farmers to increase performance and overcome fatigue during demanding physical work. The sedative varieties Red then helped the local natives to relax and unwind at the end of the working day.
