Cordyceps 23/09/2019

Cordyceps is one of the most important medicinal mushrooms of traditional Chinese medicine. It grows at heights above 3500 meters, mostly in Tibet and the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and others.

It is an edible parasitic fungus, whose spores are carried by the wind to the larvae of insects, in which they gradually begin to grow. Subsequently, a specific shell mummified by mycelium is formed. There is a symbiotic partnership where two organisms – insect shells and fungal mycelium – form a caterpillar.

In recent years, Cordyceps has been a valued commodity on the market. It is no longer as accessible in the wild as it used to be. It is even claimed that its occurrence has decreased by more than 80% over the last few decades.

HISTORY

Cordyceps has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. The mushroom was used here not only as a cure for diseases of all kinds, but also served as a vitalizing means for the harmonization of body and spirit. It was also appreciated for its stimulating effects on the body.

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE

Extract

Cordyceps extract is used in the amount of 0.5 g – 1g per dose. We recommend taking it once or twice a day. The extract has a slightly bitter taste, so it is suitable to dissolve it in cocoa, coffee, tea or another favorite drink. We recommend flavoring with milk or honey. The extract can also be mixed into dishes such as yogurt, porridge or smoothie.

COMBINATION

Cordyceps can be combined with other medicinal fungi such as Reishi, Chaga or Lion’s Mane.
